Apple users view more than half of all mobile ads, despite Apple’s iPhone having a smaller marketshare than Google Android, a new report has revealed.
The report by Velti, first published by TechCrunch, reveals that 55% of mobile ad impressions happened on Apple iOS, compared to 45% for Android.
The figures come in stark contrast to recent marketshare figures which show that, for example, Android overtaken Apple iOS in the US by a margin of 47.8% to 32%.
Taken together, the figures appear to suggest – either as a result of user usage patterns or mobile app design – that an average iPhone user is exposed to mobile advertising more frequently than an equivalent Android user.
