A former Google executive has said that social networking sites, including Facebook and Twitter, are slowly killing the web search market.
The extraordinary comments were made by Stafford Masie, the former head of Google South Africa, during an interview with ZDNet.
In the interview, Masie claims that an increasing number of internet users prefer to refer to their friends for information, and only turn to Google as a last resort.
He argues that this trend is the underlying reason behind Google’s aggressive push into social network.
