BlackBerry maker Research In Motion has announced three new smartphones as the company attempts to regain ground lost to both Apple and Google in the mobile war.
The move also comes after the company announced job cuts and a management reshuffle in order to better consolidate its business and reserve a trend some analysts believe will significantly affect the company’s future.
Rim has launched the new touchscreen Bold, the Torch and a touchscreen-only model, powered by BlackBerry 7.0. Managing director for regional marketing Patrick Spence says the new smartphones will be part of the “biggest launch in the history of BlackBerry”.
“We’re taking it a step further by enhancing the browsing experience, which is something we know we had to work on,” he says. With the addition of what RIM calls liquid graphics that render images faster and make zooming smoother, “it’s an industry-leading experience.”
