Restaurants in America have taken a punt on an electronic device that allow customers to select menu items using a touch-screen interface, and pay at the end of the meal.
The device – which includes pictures and games, and is available in San Francisco and Boston restaurants – is being marketed as saving customers’ time, and increasing up-sells and tips, TechCrunch reports.
According to TechCrunch, the company behind the device, E la Carte, has already raised more than $1 million from investors.
Restaurants are charged less than $100 per unit per month.
