Dating website Match.com says it will screen current and new subscribers against the US national sex offender registry, after a woman announced she was suing the site, alleging she would not have been sexually assaulted had Match.com checked the criminal history of its members.
According to a report by AP, Match.com president Mandy Ginsberg says recent improvements mean the screening can proceed, although users ought to be on guard.
Launching legal action this month after discovering her alleged date rapist had convictions for sexual battery, the unidentified woman said she was completely blindsided by the ordeal because she can considered herself savvy about online dating safety.
