iPhone App of the Week: 13CABS

Trying to call a taxi hotline is often a frustrating experience, with lengthy hold times one of the most common complaints. The 13CABS app attempts to do away with that frustration, allowing you to book your taxi in your own time.

The free app relies on GPS technology in the iPhone, so users can immediately find out where they are. Users fill out a number of details, which can be saved for future bookings, and the request is sent out.

The app also features the ability to make multiple bookings for different dates of times, and maintain a library of “favourites” to make future bookings quicker.

The “Where’s My Cab” feature allows users to watch what’s happening with their current taxi by viewing the cab’s last-known location, while the Fare Estimator provides the user with an idea as to how much the trip will cost.

The Find A Rank feature also allows users to direct them towards the nearest taxi rank. They can even stream information from their 13CABS account and have access to their purchasing history.

If you book taxis often and want to save some time, this is a must-have.
