I snogged our waiter at the Christmas party. Help!

Dear Aunty B,

Forget about making out with a colleague, I think I might get sued!

We were at a sit-down Christmas dinner and I asked the waiter for a particular wine that was not included in the set wines. The waiter went off and made a big show of bringing me back a bottle and then spent the evening filling up my glass and being quite flirty with me.

At one stage I said I was so happy with the wine I could kiss him and someone yelled go on. And I must have been pretty under the weather because I did! ON THE MOUTH. For at least more than one second. In front of the entire work Christmas party. I woke up the next morning absolutely horrified. My question aunty is can he sue given it was his fault I got so drunk? I keep waking up in the night with nightmares that he is going to go me for sexual harassment!

Sydney

Dear Lou,

Are you nuts? Think about what you are saying: that every drunk person has a right to harass a waiter because they were doing their job and filling your glass? No. I am afraid you are in the absolute wrong on this one.

No matter how drunk you were you should not have snogged the waiter at the Christmas party. He’s being flirty with you? He is doing his job! The best you can hope for is that he puts it behind him and doesn’t take action. Meanwhile you need to drink less at work functions. Now, how are all your plans for next year going?

Good luck!
Your Aunty B
