Dear Aunty B,
Since December arrived my staff have already gone completely slack, arriving late, knocking off early, disappearing for two hours in the middle of the day and coming back with loads of bags.
It’s really annoying but I feel like a scrooge telling them off!
They then take three weeks off, come back and bugger around in January! Is there a nice way to say it isn’t Christmas yet?
Not holidays yet!
Tasmania
Dear Not holidays yet,
There is a nice way to say everything. Here is how I would say it… nicely: “Look you lot. It’s not bloody holidays yet.”
Then point out these projects that need doing/finishing. Then dangle the carrot. “Let’s stay focused and finish early on our last day!”
Make sure everyone has a clear idea of what they need to achieve when they come back from holidays.
If that doesn’t work, forget nice and go for a clip around the ear. Two months of slack workers is not an option.
Good luck!
