Internet giant Google is set to introduce a new eBooks store in the US and internationally by next year, Bloomberg is reporting.
The publication is reporting that the company is now working with book publishers to sell hundreds of thousands of books, with an announcement set to be made within the coming weeks.
The company is aiming to take over Amazon as the lead supplier of eBooks, especially as Apple’s dominance with the iPad continues to grow.
A Google spokesperson confirmed the company will open a bookstore this year, but has not provided any further details about the project.
