Study claims 10% of workers spend more than 10 hours a week working outside the office

An online survey of more than 2,000 people commissioned by Telstra claims that 10% of Australian workers spend around 10 hours a week working outside of the office.

The survey also showed more than half of respondents said they spend more time working outside the office, with men more likely than women to work outside the office.

While respondents blamed the trend on the rise of the smartphone, netbook and tablet computer, the flexibility does provide some benefits: three quarters of respondents said the ability to work wirelessly had allowed them to attend a personal appointment and work at the same time.

Another recent survey by Telstra showed 36% of people have a phone with internet access.
