VOIP service Skype has released a new version for Windows that allows users of Facebook to send messages or make calls to one another within while using Skype.
Skype 5.0 includes a Facebook tab that displays a user’s Facebook news feed, allows them to post status updates and “like” other status updates, just as they can through the main Facebook site.
In addition, the Skype Facebook feed also displays a button allowing Facebooks users to call other Facebook users.
The formal partnership between Skype and Facebook bring together two of the more popular free web services in the world; together, the two sites have well over 500 million active users.
In addition to the new Facebook function, the new Skype update also includes a new group video-calling feature and a new “automatic call recovery” function that promises to help reconnect interrupted calls.
