LG Electronics Asia chief executive Woody Nam has said consumers should wait until 2011 to purchase a 3D television because there is not yet enough 3D content on TV.
“This year… there is not much 3D content, so only the consumers who are very much keen on new products and devices will buy a 3D TV this year,” he told Fairfax. “But I think next year will be a momentum for the 3D TV.”
He also said the company will soon announce ways through which it will partner with providers in order to bring more 3D content to broadcast.
“Our initial plan was to launch our tablet with [Google’s Android] Froyo platform. But quite recently [we] decided not to launch that product because Froyo was… developed for smart phones, not for the tablet,” he said.
“So if we launch our tablet we will use the software that will be developed only for tablet, not the smart phone. So it may take… time.”
