A computer hacker who allegedly belongs to the group responsible for exploiting a vulnerability in AT&T’s networks and revealing the personal data of over 100,000 iPad customers, has been jailed on unrelated drug charges.
Andrew Auernheimer is currently being held in an Arkansas jail, after police allegedly discovered illegal drugs in his home. These were obtained in a raid related to the AT&T breach.
Auernheimer allegedly belongs to the Goatse Security group, which took responsibility for the incident last week which saw thousands of iPad customers have their personal details revealed online.
In a statement to Information Week, AT&T said it “does not tolerate unauthorised access to its customers’ information or company websites”.
“We will cooperate with law enforcement in any investigation of unauthorised system access and to prosecute violators to the fullest extent of the law.”
