Jetstar passengers may have iPads to entertain them by the end of the year.
The airline has announced it will trial Apple’s new iPad for in-flight entertainment with the hope to have it available on all domestic and international flights by the end of 2010.
In a two-week-long trial that starts at the end of the month, passengers can rent an iPad loaded with TV programs, eBooks, music videos, movies, CDs and games for $10.
Australian in-flight entertainment provider Stellar Inflight and Blubox Avionics will develop custom designed software for the in-flight iPad.
Bluebox announced in April their ‘Bluebox Ai’ would be available on the iPad.
Jetstar claims to be the first airline to trial the technology and have purchased several hundred iPads already.
