VoIP service Skype has released an update to its iPhone application which will allow users to make Skype calls over 3G data connections, but has said it will soon charge for Skype-to-Skype calls.
While calls over WiFi will still remain free for users, the company said the pricing details will still be “in line with Skype’s commitment to providing customers with great value”.
The company has received a number of complaints on the official company blog, where it first announced the news.
Some of the features included in the update are “near CD-quality sound for Skype-to-Skype calls”, along with an upgraded call quality indicator.
The new version will also work on the iPad, and iPhones using at least the OS 3.0 software.
