Google is reportedly extremely close to shutting down its operations in China, with the company “99.9% sure” it will leave the country within the foreseeable future.
This comes after a massive controversy erupted between the nation and the internet giant, after cyber attacks were targeted towards Gmail accounts, suspected to have come from within the company’s borders.
A Financial Times report has said Google may take action within weeks in order to leave the country. It has said previously it would consider abandoning its Chinese operations after saying it would no longer censor content.
The Chinese Government is well known for its censoring practices.
It is understood Google and China have been discussing how the company could operate without censoring content, but these discussions are likely to come to an end shortly.
