More evidence has emerged Apple is planning to eradicate the use of the hard drive and put content into the cloud.
It comes after analysts said the acquisition of music streaming service LaLa puts Apple in a position where it could back up a user’s library on a server in order for customers to access content wherever they go.
Sources have told CNET Apple has been in discussions with major film studios with regards to allowing users to store data on servers, in addition to new streaming television shows and music services.
The scheme would see iTunes users access video and audio from different devices, including the upcoming iPad.
It is understood Apple believes it can eradicate the use of the hard drive due to a belief that as users fill up their devices, they are less likely to purchase content.
