The developer who created code allegedly used by communications minister Stephen Conroy to remove references to internet filtering on his site, has requested his work be removed from the senator’s site.
“I would appreciate it if you could remove my Javascript Tag Cloud from your website,” said developer and blogger Aleks Bochniak in a letter. “I do not want in any way to be associated with yourself, your office or your policies.”
Bochniak says he originally wrote a line of script used by the site to remove any mention of the words “ISP filtering”. It is understood this code was modified from its original version.
“This is one usage of my code which I would have appreciated them asking my permission, because if I had known the final outcome I would not have let them,” he told News.com.au.
The Government is set to introduce legislation for the mandatory internet filter later this year.
