Australian consumers are increasingly using mobile devices in order to purchase goods over the internet, a new report from ABI Research has revealed.
The report claims sales through mobiles could reach an astonishing $119 billion worldwide by 2015, with much of this growth pushed by apps.
A number of major companies already offer iPhone apps for retail purchases, including pizza chain Domino’s, which recently announced it recorded $2 million in sales through its app in 12 weeks.
But with the growth of other mobile markets and operating systems, such as Android, mobile payments can now be accessed by a wider range of users.
