Apple to possibly reduce TV prices on iTunes

Tech giant Apple may reduce the prices on its television shows on iTunes in tandem with the release of the upcoming iPad next month, reports suggest.

Both the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal have said the company is in talks with television networks to begin selling television shows for US99c. It is unknown whether these cuts would move on to the Australian store.

The FT said people familiar with the discussions said the cuts would begin with a test period, with only some shows being reduced from the current $US1.99, or $US2.99 for high-definition quality.

The WSJ already said a “person familiar with the talks” said the prices would “ignite the video part of iTunes”.
