The Australian Democrats are attempting to push through plans for a new legislative framework for the internet and technology industries.
The party has released the proposals in draft form, with the party hoping to promote the laws as frameworks for more secure environments for businesses.
Some of the proposals include making law enforcement responsible for catching offenders, and not internet providers, making the creators of web content responsible for that content and legal protections for ISPs from prosecution for the acts of their customers.
The party has said the proposals will be fleshed out with the help of industry representatives.
It also proposed replacing classification legislation with a simple form that could apply to all different types of media.
