The French regulatory agency given the task of enforcing anti-piracy legislation unveiled its logo at an official ceremony, but was forced to withdraw it due to copyright infringement claims.
The Hadopi agency unveiled the logo with French culture minister Frederic Mitterrand. The agency is designed to enforce laws that will ban citizens from internet access in a “three strikes” set-up.
But the logo was withdrawn after it was pointed out it used a font owned by France Telecom, with the original logo’s designer threatening possible legal action.
The design company responsible, Plan Creatif, has said it will amend the logo to one which does not infringe any laws.
