A Google-branded smartphone to be released next year is a certainty, sources have told prominent tech blog Gizmodo.
The site reports a “trusted source” has informed it that a new handset is being manufactured by Google that will contain a new version of the mobile Android operating system not yet released.
Rumours of a Google phone have been spread across the internet for weeks. While the company has released several versions of its Android mobile operating system, it has not yet had a hand in manufacturing handsets itself.
The source has also told Gizmodo that prototypes of the phone will be spread across the company’s Mountain View office, with several users testing out the new gadget.
