Apple has announced it has sold over 10 million new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models, a new record, just three days after the company launched the products in 10 countries, including Australia and the United States.
The phones are set to be released in more than 20 additional countries on September 26 and will be available in 115 countries by the end of the year.
Apple chief executive officer Tim Cook says the sales have exceeded the company’s expectations.
“We would like to thank all our customers for making this our best launch ever, shattering all previous sell-through records by a large margin,” he says.
“While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible.”
Business difficult for Google in China
An effort by the Chinese government to tighten internal security is making life more difficult for Google’s business customers in the country, The New York Times reports.
The effort is causing a wide range of problems. Chinese exporters have struggled to place ads that appeal to overseas buyers, while biotechnology researchers had trouble recalibrating a costly microscope because they could not locate the online instructions to do so. International companies have had difficulty exchanging Gmail messages and setting up meetings on applications like Google Calendar.
Adobe acquires Aviary
Aviary, a startup which offers a software developer kit to those who want to ad photo-editing capabilities to their apps, has been acquired by Adobe.
The startup was founded in 2007, and since that time has raised a total of $19 million in funding.
Aviary chief executive officer Tobias Peggs says in a blog post the move won’t result in any interruption to Aviary’s developer community, or their apps’ users.
