THE NEWS WRAP: Leaked document shows Microsoft plans to drop Nokia branding

Microsoft is set to replace the Nokia and Windows Phone brand names, with the tech giant reportedly opting to use the name Windows instead, according to a confidential internal document obtained by Geek On Gadgets.

Microsoft will be completely dropping the Nokia branding from their devices, leaving Lumia as the hero brand for future devices.

According to the report the Lumia 830 and Lumia 730 will be the final two devices with Nokia branded on the phone.

The document also shows that Microsoft is shying away from placing the Windows Phone logo next to their devices in promotions and advertisements, instead preferring to drop the “Phone”, leaving the standard Windows logo in place.

Almost five million Gmail usernames and passwords published

Google says there’s no evidence its systems have been compromised, after roughly 4.93 million Gmail usernames and passwords were published to a Russian bitcoin forum.

Since the post was made, forum administrators have purged the passwords from the text file, leaving only the logins. The user who published the file claimed that 60% of the passwords were valid.

Tinder is raising from Benchmark at a valuation above $750 million

Mobile dating app Tinder is in talks to raise a big round of funding from Benchmark, sources told TechCrunch.

TechCrunch says the deal could fall through due to complications around the ownership structure of the company. The deal would value the company at more than $750 million, and possibly even as high as $1 billion.
