Apple has confirmed it is “actively investigating” the possibility nude celebrity photos were leaked as a result of an attack on its iCloud service.
According to Re/Code, the investigation comes after compromising photos of a number of celebrities were posted on 4Chan this week.
Celebrities reportedly affected by the attack include Jennifer Lawrence, Ariana Grande, Victoria Justice, Kate Upton, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Kirsten Dunst and Selena Gomez.
Apple issues emergency Find My Phone patch to fix vulnerability
Apple has patched a vulnerability in its Find My iPhone software that allows hackers an unlimited number of guesses at a password without being locked out, allowing for brute force attacks, ZDNet reports.
There is some speculation the Find My iPhone vulnerability could have played a role in the attack.
EU regulators ask for feedback on Facebook – WhatsApp deal
The European Commission has sent out a questionnaire to numerous third parties seeking third-party feedback about Facebook’s proposed multi-billion takeover of WhatsApp.
According to Reuters, the questionnaire asks a range of questions, covering the impact the deal could have on customers and whether competing services could face problems as a result of the deal.
The EU Commission is set to make a decision about the takeover before October 3.
