Smartphone-controlled toilet flushes away concerns

Want to flush the toilet with your smartphone? Well, now you can.

Japanese firm Lixil has introduced its most advanced toilet yet, controlled by phone. It also tracks a user’s bowel movements to monitor their health, and plays music through speakers.

The system also records each use to monitor both water and electricity bills.

The application, which will be available for selected Android handsets, will work with three of Lixil’s new range of lavatories.

While this idea might sound a bit icky to some people, it does highlight consumers’ growing concerns about their ever-increasing bills.

It also enables consumers to keep an eye on their health, which is sure to appeal to older people in particular. Are there other devices or objects that could be transformed in the same way?
