Gift-giving is going social – and virtual – with the team behind Skype and LinkedIn launching gifting app Wrapp in Australia.
The app allows subscribers to give away vouchers to their mates – for retailers including Lorna Jane, Superdry, Booktopia, La Senza, Ben Sherman and Mossimo – as “free gifts” via Facebook.
“Australians spend about $2.5 billion a year on gifts cards for those they care about,” Wrapp chief executive Hjalmar Winbladh says.
“Wrapp is set to make the decision and purchase process a whole lot easier.”
“Everyone loves to be recognised, so celebrate your friends – make gift-giving a daily event, and the world will be a better place for it.”
Wrapp launched in Sweden in November 2011 and has since taken its service to the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland and Norway.
Gift-giving will never go out of style, so perhaps there’s an opportunity to launch your own app.
