Business says “no” to Windows 7

A new survey reveals that 60% of IT departments have no plans to deploy the new version of Microsoft’s key operating system, Windows 7.

The survey, undertaken by ScriptLogic, found that 34% said they will deploy the operating system by the 2010, with only 6% having plans to use the OS by the end of this year.

About 43% said the time involved in rolling out the software was the most deterring factor, with 39.1% of respondents saying compatibility with current systems was their main concern.

About 35% stated that ongoing costs are a major concern, incurred by postponing new software purchases as a result of the upgrade, while 20% admitted a lower staff count was delaying the installation of the new software.
