Steph WakefieldName: Steph Wakefield

Business name: My Super Nanny

Age: 24

State: Victoria

My Super Nanny was founded in 2010 by Steph Wakefield, who started the site with the sole purpose of challenging rival site FindABabysitter.com.au, owned by media giant Fairfax.

After struggling to find a childcare site that provided refined matchmaking as part of its service,

Wakefield came up with the concept of a low-cost, time-efficient childcare search engine.

The aim of My Super Nanny is to help parents find a nanny who meets their needs, eliminating the need for nanny agencies and cutting down the time spent interviewing candidates.

“Rivalling Fairfax, using every social media outlet but theirs, should make for a very interesting and pleasing result,” Wakefield says.

“Once MSN is established as a trusted brand within the household, I will then expand into a myriad of other outsourced services required in a household. I have five outshoots already planned, which will leverage off MSN.”

Wakefield describes herself as “99% computer illiterate”, yet her website speaks for itself with regard to the level of professionalism she brings to the business.

In terms of advertising, Wakefield has attracted the likes of Nike, Kids Revolution and Milk Baby – an offshoot of Milk Skincare – owned by former swimmer Michael Klim.

In addition to taking on Fairfax, Wakefield plans to establish a super nanny foundation, which will be aimed primarily at youth “as this is where we can make an impact for their future”.

“The plans above for MSN are only a portion of what MSN will achieve. There are only so many hours in the day,” Wakefield says.
